Stephanie Winker

Masterclass Flute

Stephanie Winker received her first musical training at the Tübingen Music School and with Gaby Pas-van Riet in Stuttgart.
After graduating from the Freie Waldorfschule Tübingen, she pursued studies in New York on a scholarship, where she studied with Jeanne Baxtresser and earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Juilliard School in 2000. She completed her education in Berlin, earning her diploma and concert exam at the Hanns Eisler School of Music under Eberhard Grünenthal and Jacques Zoon.

Simultaneously, she embarked on an orchestral career that took her from being principal flutist of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen to the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin State Opera, and finally to the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig, where she performed from 2004 to 2014, frequently appearing as a soloist.

Since joining the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) as a professor in 2013, Winker has continued to perform as a guest with various orchestras across Germany and Europe, with a growing focus on chamber music.

She has performed at festivals such as Schleswig-Holstein, Tanglewood (USA), Kuhmo (Finland), Rheingau, and Davos. As a member of the Ma’alot Wind Quintet, she regularly tours Germany, Europe, Asia, and America. The ensemble has an exclusive recording contract with Dabringhaus & Grimm and won Echo Klassik Awards in 2006 and 2010 for its recordings of Dvořák and Rossini.

Since 2012, Winker has also served as the artistic director of the Volkenroda Summer Concerts, a chamber music festival that explores the intersection of architecture and music.

She conducts masterclasses both in Germany and internationally, including at Villa Musica at Schloss Engers, the Starnberg Music Days, Forum Artium, and the Seefeld Music Days in Austria.

Stephanie Winker lives in Stuttgart with her husband and three children.
