Information and Terms of Participation

The masterclasses of the Starnberg Music Days are designed for interested and talented young people and students of classical music, who wish to learn from outstanding musicians and further develop their musical skills over 4 intensive workshop days.

By applying, participants agree to the general terms and conditions.

1. Deadlines

Application Deadline: March 14, 2025

Notification of Participation: no later than March 21, 2025

Payment of Course Fees (active/passive participation): see confirmation email

2. Application & Documents

The date of receipt of all documents is crucial for the application.

The following references must be included with the application:

  • Fully completed application form
  • Links to videos or recordings
  • Passport photo / clear portrait for the festival pass
  • Proof of payment for the registration fee

Important: Without compelling recordings or videos, it is difficult for the instructors to make a selection. Please do not attach videos/recordings as files in the application; instead, send them as accessible links (no download required). YouTube is a good option for this. Uploaded videos can also be set to “private” so they are not publicly visible.

Submitting an application does not guarantee participation. The instructors will select participants based on the submitted materials.

3. Costs and Fees

Cost for Active Participation:

  • Registration fee: €120 (non-refundable)
  • Course fee: €300

The course fee includes:

Regular masterclasses

  • 4 instructional units with the respective instructors
  • Concert performances (instructors decide on the performances)
  • Lectures
  • Free admission to festival concerts

4. Preparation & Course Structure of the Masterclasses

Preparation:

Each participant prepares two different pieces or two different movements of one piece. The works should match the participant's level of training.

Daily Practice:

Participants receive daily individual lessons with their assigned instructor. The number and duration of each lesson are determined by the teaching staff.

Schedules:

Schedules are binding and can only be changed in exceptional cases and in consultation with the festival office.

Attendance Requirement:

All active participants must be present for the entire duration. Late arrivals or early departures are only possible in exceptional cases and with prior approval from the festival office.

 

 

5. Location of Masterclasses and Concerts

Masterclass Venues

In 2025, the masterclasses will take place at three locations:

  • Starnberg Municipal Music School
    Mühlbergstraße 4, 82319 Starnberg
  • Vocational School

  • Schlossberghalle
    Vogelanger 2, 82319 Starnberg
     

Practice at the Starnberg Music School Grounds:

Adequate practice rooms will be available at both the Starnberg Music School and the Vocational School.

The following rules must be observed:

  • Instruments may only be played on the existing carpets or with a cello mat.
  • Practice in the classrooms is allowed from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM; all participants must vacate the building by 6:00 PM.
  • The festival is not responsible for instruments or personal belongings.
  • All course participants must sign up on the posted schedules.

6. Concerts During the Masterclasses

Concerts:

The instructors will decide which participants will perform in the chamber music concert during the masterclasses. There is no guarantee of active participation in these concerts.

Final Concert:

The final concert provides Academy participants with the opportunity to publicly showcase their skills in the Schlossberghalle (Great Hall). Instructors will select which students will perform in the final concert.

7. Accommodation / Travel

Accommodation is not included in the course fee. Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodations (hotel, guesthouse, private lodging).

Travel from Munich’s main train station to Starnberg by S-Bahn takes approximately 33 minutes. Timetables are available at www.mvg.de.

8. Granting of Rights and Bank Details

Granting of Rights

The agency FAVIOLA (organizer of the Music Days) will be making photo, audio, and video recordings throughout the masterclass days. Participants transfer all usage rights to FAVIOLA, including the right to use photos and videos for future promotional materials (flyers, postcards, website, posters, etc.).
